Zineb ANDRESS ARAKI: when photography becomes an act of solidarity

Casablanca was the guest of honor and was dubbed “iconic city” in the Dubai Design Week, November 2017. The city was represented by five exceptional Moroccan artists in the “Loading Casa” exhibit.

The Architect and photographer Zineb ANDRESS ARAKI took up and won the challenge of a total immersion in the city of Casablanca by developing a particular stage decoration: a sensory journey in the heart of the great white city.

In a 120m²-pavilion, visitors had the opportunity to delve into the city’s streets through a reconstruction of the city in sound and vision. This experience enabled visitors to delve into the chaotic complexity of Casablanca’s rich history. ANDRESS ARAKI’s work was time travel through the objects and art works of a city where time is measured in taxi rides.

More recently, ANDRESS ARAKI took part in the “Antidot.ma” initiative, a cultural and solidarity action, partnering Moroccan artists with 9 associations in the fight against Covid-19.

Having put art in the heart of communities, ANDRESS ARAKI spins the tables and makes her art serve communities.
